IF NOT NOW, WHEN?/ NE SADA, KADA?
(creative methodologies of devised dramaturgy and authorial,
developmental and collectively created performance arts)
Process of liberalization which created a long expected
inversion and gave the performance itself as whole a privileged position in the
front of rehearsing process, representation and reception (before everything in
front of stage text or a play) is taking place from the beginning of twentieth
century, taking over the theoretical discourse and praxis itself and
penetrating even into the mainstream of theatre productions. Accompanied with
democratization of creative process involving equally performers and audience
which is trying to get relief from. repetition of standard content and formal
frameworks, the new obstacles and frameworks were established. This change is
evident both in Croatian but also in most european theaters, but theory somehow
did not reacted with adequate insight into these new systems, nor even with
critical analyzes which will then make evident of eventual weakness of these
systems and processes.
The fragility of creative process, the impossibility of
projection of self and abandoning of desire, constant avoidance of
interpretation and insisting on special quality of risk, same as involvement of
the audience in the creative process and performing, randomness as proof of
thermodynamic openness of performances, are some of characteristic of Shadow
Casters performances which we in last ten years were creating, thinking,
traveling, forgetting, reanimating and sharing. Many times we were non conscious when
one project is starting and the last one is finishing, and many times we were
not aware are we on holiday or we are still working on something (anything).
Therefor we decided to share this anniversary in working spirit and share this
space of visibility with you which promote so persistently this diversity of creative models and modus within the field of performing
arts.
We are interested in:
• What is starting point of your work?
• How you recognize your future collaborators?
• What does it mean for you “the stage”?
• Do you have audience or “only” co-creators?
• What is more importaint for you: process or
product/performance?
• What is for you the final point of your work?
• What are the obstacles you find the most in your work?
• Koja pitanja postavljate sami sebi? Which questions do you
pose to yourself while working?
• Which questions do you want to ask others now?
Therefor we invite you to join on workshop-symposium on
Friday, December 21st in Villa Arko from 9.30am to 6.30pm and tell us your
story about your creative method, process of work or part of process. Each
presentation will be up top 15 minutes. Use whatsoever means or tools for that.
For the workshop-symposium papers we are asking you to send five (5) key words
which are important for your creative process and description of each term with
not more then 1600 characters. With your permit we will then
your presentation present in booklet or/and on our weblog.
